What is a QR code generator?

A QR code generator is a tool that converts information such as a web address, text, Wi-Fi login or contact detail into a square barcode that a phone camera can scan. GLAVNO creates static QR codes that never expire and need no account.

How to create a QR code in four steps

  1. Choose a type

Pick URL, text, Wi-Fi, email or phone.

  2. Add your content

Type or paste it. The code updates as you type.

  3. Customize

Change colors, size and error correction.

  4. Download

Save a PNG for screens or an SVG for print.

Built to be simple and dependable

No expiry, no limits

Static codes keep working. No scan caps, no subscription.

Private by design

Everything is processed locally. We never see your data.

Instant preview

The code redraws as you type. No waiting, no page reloads.

Your colors

Match your brand. Keep strong contrast so it scans reliably.

PNG and SVG

Sharp at any size, from a business card to a billboard.

Works on every phone

Scans with the built-in camera on iOS and Android.

What people use QR codes for

  • Restaurant menus and table ordering
  • Wi-Fi sharing for guests and customers
  • Business cards, flyers and product packaging
  • Event tickets, check-in and schedules
  • Links to portfolios, social profiles and reviews

Tips for a code that scans first time

  • Dark code on a light background works best
  • Print at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in)
  • Leave a quiet margin around the code
  • Use level Q or H if the code may get scuffed
  • Test with a real phone before printing

How to share Wi-Fi with a QR code

A Wi-Fi QR code lets guests join your network by scanning, with no typing and no spelling out a long password.

  1. Open the generator and choose the Wi-Fi tab.
  2. Enter the network name exactly as it appears, including capitals.
  3. Enter the password and pick the security type. Most home routers use WPA/WPA2/WPA3.
  4. Download the code and print it, or display it on a screen.

Guests scan it with the built-in camera on iPhone or Android, then tap the prompt to connect. Consider a separate guest network, because anyone who sees the code can read the password. If you change the password later, make a new code.

QR code size for print

The minimum is 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in) for close-range scanning. For anything viewed from further away, use one tenth of the scanning distance.

Scanning distanceMinimum code size
20 cm (business card, packaging)2 cm
1 m (poster, table tent)10 cm
3 m (shop window)30 cm
10 m (signage)1 m
  • Keep the white margin around the code. The generator adds it for you.
  • Use dark code on a light background, and print at 300 dpi or use SVG.
  • Test the printed copy with a real phone before ordering a batch.

Which QR code error correction level to use

Error correction lets a code stay readable when part of it is dirty, scuffed or covered. Higher levels recover more damage but make the pattern denser.

LevelRecoversBest for
Labout 7%Clean screens, short content
Mabout 15%Everyday default
Qabout 25%Print that may get scuffed
Habout 30%Stickers, outdoor use, rough surfaces

Long links produce dense codes. If a code looks crowded, shorten the link or lower the level, and print it larger.

PNG or SVG: which QR code format to download

Both formats contain the same code. The difference is how they scale.

  • PNG is a fixed-size image. Use it for websites, slides, documents and messages. Choose 1024 px or larger so it stays sharp.
  • SVG is vector artwork. Use it for print, signage, packaging and anything that will be resized, because it never gets blurry.

If a designer or printer asks for a vector file, send the SVG. When unsure, download both: it is free and instant.

Static vs dynamic QR codes

Frequently asked questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark, no scan limit and no expiry. The codes you create are static and work forever.

Do my QR codes expire?

No. A static QR code stores your data directly in the pattern, so it keeps working as long as the content it points to exists.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. The code is generated locally in your browser. Your links, passwords and text are never sent to a server.

PNG or SVG: which should I download?

Use PNG for websites, documents and quick sharing. Use SVG for print, signage and anything that must scale without losing sharpness.

What size should a printed QR code be?

At least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 in) for close-range scanning. As a rule of thumb, make the code at least one tenth of the expected scanning distance.

What is error correction?

It lets a QR code stay readable when part of it is dirty or covered. Levels L, M, Q and H recover roughly 7%, 15%, 25% and 30% of the data.
